What is studio and field production?

Studio Production is the process of recording and producing a video within a fixed studio environment this is because it is easier to film in a controlled environment.

Field Production is the term given to remote video production carried out anywhere but within a studio.

They're are three types of studio based production which are -

Live - Being filmed and produced right there and then

Live-to-Tape - Shot Live

Pre-Produced - Pre made. Edited and then released to the public

Group Ideas

5 - 10 minutes

1 - My Main Choice - Jeremy Kyle

Hollies Idea - X- Factor

Jack's Idea - Judge Judy

I would like to do a re-enactment of the show Jeremy Kyle.

Audience - I would like a live audience. Have certain people overreacting. I like that from the Jerry Springer Show when the audience find something really crazy or something big is happening they shout out 'Jerry' and they also shout out 'Fight' when they want to see the guest fight.

Characters - Things that stood out for me. I was watching one video and the young guys reactions were just adding to the whole bit. Jerry Springer Show - Catfish

Storyline

2 brothers and 1 sister. The sister was sleeping with the younger brother and then reveals that she is having a baby with the older brother. Mam wants to keep the kid because she feels as though its part of the family. We also wanted a classic chase scene to happen.

Start - We have one person on the stage either the sister or one of the brothers. We will have the host asking questions.

Actors

Host - 25 years old

Sister - 17 year old

Younger Brother - 16 year old

Older brother - 20 year old

Bodyguard 1 - 25 years old

Bodyguard 2 - 20 years old

Task 2

Planning

set design - For set design we are just keeping it simple. We are going to be in the theatre which is a very big space. We will probably have a table and chairs for the judges. It would be fun if we could get buzzes but we might not be able to get them in time.

X-Factor Set Photos. As you can see on these photo's its very simple with just the table and the room in front for the performers.

casting - We didn't hold auditions as we had in mind who we wanted to take part in our production. Here is a cast list just so you know who was our actors. They weren't given names as nothing was scripted they just got told if they were bad or good before they performed. Cast List

script - They was no script as we told them to just improvise everything. We gave them their character breakdowns and we showed them a few videos that we wanted to interpret into their performances.

Girl's Performance - https://youtu.be/H7YRRaOgpUk

Boys Performance - https://youtu.be/qLVKPL9FwNQ

Dylan's Performance - https://youtu.be/nbZdzHkjvUM

sound - We didn't have any sound or music in the background because we couldn't get the speakers to work so we just told them to go acapella. It worked well and also on the X- Factor they don't always have music playing through the speakers.

wardrobe - We gave them their character breakdowns which had an indication in what clothes they should be wearing. The girls were very out there outfits and trying to make them cute but they wont. The boys were just like they walked in their cupboard with a blindfold on and Dylan was very casual or casual smart. He would be the only sensible dressed there.

makeup - We didn't require any makeup from the makeup team as we weren't going to out their with the makeup.

Lighting - The lighting was very very strong. We didn't realise how harsh the spotlight was on the camera. We turned all the main lights off which made it look more pleasing on the camera. We also had a lighting ring light as our other source of lighting.

Task 4

Distribution

Task 5

Evaluation

I think the end product of our production was very good. We started filming after lunch so the actors had their time after their lessons. We set the cameras up, one camera on the judges and the other was on the actors. We had one of  some people from Film and Tv to help with lighting. We used a spotlight which we should of turned down a little bit but that's all a learning process. For set production we filmed in the theatre as their is a massive space so we didn't feel like we were in a crowded room. You could see the theatre chairs behind us which brought a more performance type vibe to the room. We had a table in front of us with some papers, pens, water to seem more like a table we use everyday.

What went well - I think the actors were amazing. Our production was not really scripted so they were great with keeping the ball rolling. I also think our time management was very good, we got the filming done in less than 2 hours which can be very difficult to do if you have a lot of actors.

What could of been better - We really should of had a better look on the lighting as the actors were very washed out. We should have recruited more people to solve that issue. Another thing was we should have got 1 more camera to cover the actors from the front as we only have a side angle
