Unit 6
Feature Film
Task 1
Part 1
Here is my job application and Cv
Here is description on what my job role is
Part 2
I think there is difference between UK drama's and The US drama's. US drama is very dramatic. For example Outer Banks and Emmerdale. Both are teen drama's. Outer Banks is the US drama and is very much more made up story like. The problems they run into aren't what they average person runs into. whereas Emmerdale is more realistic and the problems they run into are more realistic.
Costume
The outfits on Emmerdale are very true to the situations and fit the characters very well. Emmerdale is a great costume resemble to ours. It's more true to life. They show upper, middle and lower class on their shows so you can see how everyone dresses. They also have kids which means you can see their school uniform. Which in the UK is very simple as it it just the school uniform
Set
The first two photo's are from Emmerdale and the last two are from our set. I think we did a really good job at securing a location that has improved the quality of the film. The Emmerdale party set was just very casual with a few decorations, the bar and food. At our set we had decorations, presents and a DJ booth which was very nice.
Task 2
Production design
Team Work
I am production designer. I look at the visuals of makeup, costume, set and props.
Pre Production - Creating mood boards and figuring out the visuals of how set, makeup and costume will look.
Production - For set it is to build the sets in time for the scenes to be filmed. Making sure thy4e have the right props if they need them. Making sure costumes are right and ready t film.
Post Production - My job role is done after post production. The next thing I can do now is to help everyone else who's job role is required at the stage to move the movie along.
Makeup - Work with Nina and her team. Making sure communication is clear and everyone has the same schedule.
Costume - Creating costume's for the characters. Thinking what they would wear and being realistic. When it's production time to make sure the costumes are finalised and are ready to film.
Props - Going through the script and finding all the props that are being used. Collecting all the props needed for the scenes before we film.
Set - Going through the script to get a base level of where they set will be placed. Then thinking of the characters and what would be in specific places. For example when we film in Mia's room the base level of her set is a bedroom but then we have to look at her character on a personal level and think what else will be in her room
I am in a team with Bailey(Y2), Harry(Y1) and the Makeup Artists
Over the first few weeks of pre production, I did find it very difficult in pre production to come up with ideas for the whole of production design. I decided it would be best for me to focus on one or two aspects of production in more detail. I focused more on Costume and Makeup. This meant working more closely with the Makeup Crew.
Peer Review Sheet
Bailey Gamble - I think Bailey did an amazing job at making the sets look very nice and organised. I think Bailey just needed a little few reminders to get certain props for scenes but when he did that it was very good. He did a lot of organising by himself which is very impressive since we filmed at various locations.
Task 3
Pre- Production
Files
Task 4
Production
Mia's Bedroom
For Production design, I helped Bailey with understanding what would be in a girl's bedroom as the people who were helping him were all guys. I was there to make sure the actors had the right clothing as school uniform was harder to put together as people would forget clothing so I had to use back up clothing from the costume room.
Driving Car with Emie
We went out to the back of the college near the university. We had Emie be our double for Kadie to drive Kane's car. We had Emie as she has passed her driving and is also insured whereas Kadie doesn't have a licenses so that wouldn't of been smart to do. I had Kadie bring in her outfit she wore in the previous scene so that it didn't look to obvious. We also had Emie have her hair back in a ponytail as she is a brunette and Kadie is blonde. It's shot from quite far away so you couldn't tell that much in person so it should be alright for the camera.
Coffee Shop Location
We got a off site location which was nice. It was very close to the college which is always good. We all walked over together. There wasn't anything to do with the set as it was all nicely furnished. The only thing ill say about the set was I think it should have been more small and run down looking. The family doesn't have a lot of money so it wouldn't look to nice, not horrible looking but just not as rich looking.
English Breakfast with Jane and Jess
For production design I helped them set up. Megan brought in some English breakfast and we made it look as appealing as we could. I was with makeup today as it was our first time trying out old age makeup. It wasn't looking too good so we went back and decided that more wrinkles would look better than the latex as it was peeling off the face and would have been noticeable on camera.
Gym Filming
Filming at a different location was such a crazy experience. I'm glad we got a different location other than the college as it feels more like a film set and more professional. I got there on time and Oliver was outside helping people with the location as you had to go round the back to get in. It was quite cold inside but was manageable. I then went straight to makeup to help them as there was quite a few actors and different scene changes so I wanted to stay focused. We ran into a problem at first. Laura didn't have the right costume but it was quickly fixed we just changed leggings with one of the makeup girls.
Task 5
Distribution

Here is the Final Movie
Task 6
Evaluation
Working with Makeup
I found it very very fun to work with the makeup people. There were many times I found it very stressful as there was many on that team that were relaying on me. It was also very hard to keep track off every single character so it was good I made a makeup breakdown for every scene. Without that I would of had no clue what makeup was sensible for each character. They were also great with letting me have my final say on someone's makeup.
Being Costume Director
I think this was the job I didn't like as much. I definitely needed somebody else to help keep me on track as I found many times I couldn't remember what someone was wearing in once scene. If I was to do that job again I would of definitely taken photo's of every single person in each scene to keep track.
Working with everyone
Although I liked my job it was very stressful. I think if I worked with a bigger team for the production then that would of made things a lot easier. Bailey was very good at getting his stuff done. I would help him a few times but then he would be on fire getting everything else done.
